These are just a few songs that, either I was listening to as I wrote the Exile War books, or else that seem to be appropriate to listen to while reading.

For Langston and Cleo at the end of Distant Thunder.

Langston Wheeler’s Legion of Traitors fight song, for when the Battle at the Gates of the Yard is well and truly joined.

Langston and Cleo’s theme song. From the Battle at the Gates of the Yard in Legion of Traitors, up until just before their final confrontation in Hope for Mercy, this is their song.

Also for Legion of Traitors, the Battle at the Gates of the Yard, but for the rest of the Gentle Hands, rather than just Langston.

For the time in Liberation between the space battle beyond the Heliopause and the invasion.

For the invasion from orbit in Liberation. As Gentle Hands and Tau Cetian Marines risk the fiery plunge of atmospheric reentry in the teeth of enemy gunfire, Tia Dynn speaks to the people of Felicitas from the front lines, calling them to rise up and fight the occupying Army.

For storming the beaches in Liberation.

For all the air battles in Liberation. It’s kind of Ray’s theme, but also works for Lena’s scene too.

Langston’s theme in Hope for Mercy. In addition to the lyrics suiting him, it’s a play on words. The plot revolves around a circular spaceship in orbit around Felicitas.

The launch of the commando raid in Hope for Mercy.

The song for Langston and Cleo’s final confrontation in Hope for Mercy. Basically any of the variations on this theme from the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack work for that chapter.

Another song for the last chapter of Hope for Mercy.
